I imagine the security is pretty good though it's hard to tell. What's annoying as hell though is random sporadic notifications telling me I should lock apps that have absolutely no reason to be locked. While there is a setting, its description is confusing and there's still no reason to notify me about apps which have been installed for years already. I've already bought your app, for the love of god stop pestering me about absolute nonsense.

Hi Dom, thank you for your feedback. App Lock suggestions can be managed in Account > Settings > Notifications. Please adjust the notification options there, and contact us at support.avast.com if they continue. *Avast

I used to love avast, but I'm extremely unhappy with the current version. Different scan options have been removed and when asking the assistant, it tells me where they were in the app even though they're gone. Also, the assistant doesn't explain what the smart scan involves exactly, which really defeats the purpose. For me, it's sadly time to switch as a result.

Hey Cipher, thanks for taking your time. There have been some changes in the recent version and we are now collecting the feedback. We will certainly take it into account and may change the way our app looks and performs in the future. David

After the installation, Avast tells you to either opt for one of their paid plans or accept personalized ads (and thus trackers). I've been told there was in fact a way to opt out of this in the free version, sufficiently simple to find under settings -> personal privacy. This setting only refers to data being used to improve the app though, NOT advertising trackers. The app is very obscure in its wording regarding ads. Not to say others didn't do that as well, but bad practice nonetheless.

Hi, data we used for analytics was de-identified and aggregated, but protecting people and our users' trust is Avast’s top priority and must be embedded in everything we do. For this and other reasons, Avast's executives have decided to terminate the whole subsidiary data collection with immediate effect. Read more on http://bit.ly/2RZO1DI.
